About us

Who are we (Yogic Transformers)?

A community STEAM program in Ashburn, VA — run by students, for students, with experienced coaches alongside.

Meet the masterminds behind your camper's summer: a league of extraordinary high school and college friends who spent the last decade conquering World Robotics stages, crushing STEM Olympiads, and coaching over 400 future innovators—all while our family collectively raised over $200K (of that our boys raised $40k) for educational causes. When the tight job market threw them a curveball this summer, they did what they do best: joined forces to transform obstacles into opportunities!

The result? The ultimate, budget-friendly, hands-on STEAM playground featuring customizable, weekly themed camps where kids can mix and match their adventures. It's a massive win-win: elite, world-class mentorship for your budget, and an unforgettable summer of explosive, creative fun for your kids. Your campers won't just learn STEAM—they'll catch the contagious energy of real-world makers who know exactly how to turn big dreams into reality. And maybe even start their journey into being a Yogic Transformer too!

Founder & Head Coach

Founder · Yogic Transformers
Yug Kolla

Yug is the founder and first participant of the Yogic Transformers STEAM team. A rising sophomore at UIUC, he brings over nine years of experience in STEM education, robotics, engineering, and aerospace. He has founded and led robotics teams and mentored more than 100 students across FLL Explore, FLL, FTC, and FRC, helping them develop skills in programming, CAD, engineering design, problem-solving, and teamwork.

His technical experience spans robotics, aerospace engineering, and software development. He has designed and built competitive robots, taken part in NASA STEM programs, and worked on advanced engineering projects in both educational and competitive settings. Most recently, as Lead Engineer for an active canard control system, he helped design, build, integrate, and test a high-power rocket — developing and flight-testing a system to actively control rocket roll during flight.

Beyond technical projects, he has extensive experience teaching and mentoring through robotics teams, engineering workshops, summer programs, and STEM outreach, creating hands-on learning experiences that build students’ confidence, creativity, and critical thinking.

Yug is also an avid triathlete with two world records — youngest to compete in a USAT Adult Sprint Triathlon (age 8) and a USAT Adult Olympic Triathlon (age 9). He has run half marathons since age 8 and full marathons since age 12, and runs cross-country and track. He has competed at state, regional, national, and world levels in triathlon and STEM events, and was nominated from the DMV area to FTC Worlds as an outstanding STEM engineer and model FIRST student.

Head Coach · Yogic Transformers
Sarath Kolla

Sarath is a community youth organizer and has been a STEAM coach for 14 years, coaching over 400 students across individualized and team-based STEAM activities. He is a Sudarshan Kriya (SKY) breathwork and meditation instructor for youth and adults in communities, schools, and corporations, and has been deeply involved in elementary, middle, and high school Parent Teacher Organizations — serving in President and Vice President board roles for over a decade and helping over 4,000 families in LCPS.

Sarath loves to coach and mentor youth and has been doing so since Yug was in pre-kindergarten. He continues to stay actively engaged for years past his children graduating from both Rosa Lee Elementary and Stone Hill Middle Schools — volunteering his time to help the PTO and serving as a voluntary STEAM teacher in the after-school activities he helped design and set up.

He envisions, establishes and runs youth leadership and STEAM initiatives across communities, schools, and organizations. He has also served on the board of the local Viperfish community swim team for over 8 years, supporting more than 1,000 swim families. In his pre-COVID years he was a triathlete and marathoner, completing 2 Ironmans, 8 Half Ironmans, 12 marathons, 20 half marathons, and over 100 triathlons.

The program

What is the STEAM Camp about?

Hands-on building across six STEAM areas — plus well-being and optional competition prep.

Every session is project-driven. Students build robots, code games and apps, engineer and 3D-print designs, create art, and grow as leaders and communicators — then learn to slow down and focus.

Work spans six areas: Robotics, Programming, Engineering, Design & Creativity, Leadership & Communication, and Competition Prep (TSA and Science Olympiad, where students pick their own event). Browse the full catalog in Activity Topics below.

Our purpose

Why are we conducting this camp?

Great learning, real well-being, and a give-back to the community.

Kids learn STEAM best from people only a few years ahead of them. We put students in front of the room and experienced adults beside them, so curiosity stays high and support stays close.

Technical skill isn't enough on its own. We pair building and competing with well-being — focus, breathing, and life skills — so students leave more capable and calmer.

And it's a give-back: the students teaching here are raising funds for local schools and non-profit causes, so every registration sends help back into the community.

Give-back

How are we paying it forward?

You choose where a portion of the proceeds goes.

🤝

A portion of every registration (after expenses) is donated to local schools and educational non-profit causes — and you decide where it goes.

During registration, name the school or educational cause you'd like your child's contribution directed toward. The students teaching here are raising those funds, so learning and giving happen in the same summer.

Testimonials

What families are saying

Testimonials from Yogic Transformers parents about their experience.

SK

Sarath is an exceptional coach and mentor for robotics and STEM programs. I highly recommend the Yogic Transformers program to parents who want to give their children meaningful STEM exposure and hands-on learning experiences. The skills, confidence, and problem-solving mindset students develop through this program become a strong foundation that they carry into high school, college, and beyond.

My daughter, Avni, was a member of the Yogic Transformers team during her 4th and 5th grade years, with Sarath as the coach and Yug as the mentor. Over those two years, she learned tremendously and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Sarath and Yug created a fun, supportive environment that encouraged creativity, innovation, teamwork, and thoughtful risk-taking. They empowered students to explore new ideas, learn from challenges, and build confidence in their abilities, making a lasting impact on Avni’s growth and love for STEM.
